Days between dates
True calendar distance between any two dates — days, weeks, months, years.
– days
What "days between" actually means
Date math has more conventions than people expect. This tool counts the difference between two dates the way a countdown does: from date A up to date B, exclusive of the endpoint — so Monday to Friday is four days. Forms, contracts and deadlines sometimes want the inclusive count (both endpoints), which is why we show it alongside. Swap the dates and the tool swaps them back; the distance is the same in either direction.
Calendar months are counted as anniversaries, not 30-day blocks: one month after January 31 is February 28 or 29, exactly as birthdays and billing cycles behave. Weekday estimates exclude Saturdays and Sundays but not public holidays, which vary by country. For spans of a life rather than a project, see how many days old am I or the age calculator.
Questions
Does the count include both dates?
The main result counts the days between the two dates exclusively (checkout-style). The inclusive count — both endpoints counted — is shown alongside, since forms and deadlines differ on which they want.
How are months and years between dates counted?
As true calendar units: "1 month" from Jan 31 lands on Feb 28/29, exactly the way anniversaries work — not 30-day blocks.
Are leap years handled?
Yes. The math counts actual calendar days across every leap year in the span.
